Food allergies occur because of an immune system reaction to certain foods. 1 in 20 Americans are affected by food allergies and they can occur at any age, but are most commonly diagnosed in babies and young children. 90% of food allergies are related to milk, egg, soy, wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, shellfish and fish. We diagnose and manage food allergies regularly in our office, and are at the forefront of available treatments for food allergies. Our office has been a leader in OIT treatment both regionally and nationally for almost 4 years. Over 200 of our food allergic patients have successfully completed our program. Conditions:

• IgE-mediated food allergy
• Non IgE-mediated food allergy (enterocolitis, protein intolerance)

Testing:

• Food allergy skin prick testing

Treatment:

• Oral food challenges
• Oral Immunotherapy (OIT) – currently offering OIT for milk, egg, wheat, soy, peanut, all tree nuts, sesame, and shellfish

Conditions:

• Hymenoptera venom allergy (wasp, bee, hornet)
• Mosquito allergy

Testing:

• Venom skin prick and intradermal testing
• Mosquito skin prick testing

Treatment:

Venom immunotherapy/desensitization -traditional, cluster and ultra rush protocols

Conditions:

• Drug allergy – including penicillin, other antibiotics, analgesics
• Aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD)

Testing:

• Penicillin allergy skin prick and intradermal testing
• Penicillin oral challenge
• Local anesthetic allergy testing
• Oral graded challenge to other antibiotics and select medications

Treatment:

• Desensitization to medications

Here at Schreiber Allergy, we evaluate and diagnose various allergic skin disorders, including eczema, allergic rashes, hives, and swelling. We perform comprehensive patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis.

• Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders including eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and eosinophilic gastroenteritis
• Hypereosinophilic syndrome
• Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangitis (Churg-Strauss syndrome)

• Primary Immunodeficiency including: common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), selective antibody deficiency, selective IgA deficiency

• Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) replacement therapy
